It seems that the real advantage to this card is that they let you double-dip in both the Hilton and AP points programs.

The value is actually quite good, since Gold gets an Exec room upgrade and free breakfast. HHonors Gold is one of the best mid-level tiers. These are not sent "willy-nilly" but likely related to having posted a couple of mileage credits from Hilton stays through the year. (Sacrebleu, you live in Quebec and they assume you're bilingual...such stupidity on Hilton's part!)

BTW while the card may have a valid date for two years, it is really likely only good through early 2008...with a minimum number of stays required to requalify. This information is likely contained in the cover letter.

Did the OP have any Hilton points post to their AE account in the past year or two?
