AC*SE: Assume for a moment that I am a surgeon, on my way to perform life-saving open-brain surgeory on some little kid. Or that I am flying to Hawaii to operate a rescue sub that will be rescuing the crew of an experimental underwater research station after a freak accient has left them stranded.

Point is, what does flying to go to work have to do with anything??? We ALL fly to go to work. Yes, some of us have jobs more "critcal" than others, but I can think of thousands of jobs more important than remembering if the lady in 36J wants coffee or decaf (ok, low blow, but you get my point): Just because deadheading pos-space crew are on their way to work DOES NOT necessarily make them more important than any particular pax who, by the way, pays their salaries.

Crews are more important than pax
I dont even know how to respond to this statement. Without going overboard in making the point that the airlines (and their employees) exist for us and not vice-versa, I think it might be most appropriate to say that airline employees and passengers need eachother and that neither should take the other for granted. I guess I will make the point, too, that any company that consistantly puts the needs of its employees over the needs of its customers will not be long for this world.

OTOH, if you can't tell, I AM enjoying the discussion
