i think the point jplux is trying to make is that ALL the villas would be more like the top Aman villas, with live-in staff, etc, in addition to the general resort staff. while management of the island would require a few key people, probably drawn more from the Certified Household Manager crowd than the hotel industry, being a standalone property really cuts down on typical hotel management issues/staff requirements.

and 3 star/etc chefs can be hired/contracted/etc, regardless of whether their restaurant on the island is ever rated.

"advertising" via this forum, Villazzo, Elite Traveler, etc really bypasses the marketing value of typical hotel/resort rankings/reviews/etc.

edit - two other standalone resort villas that come to mind are Altamer and St Regis Temenos Anguilla, i seem to recall reading rave reviews of the service at those properties. both are from about $5K/nt IIRC.

OTOH i dont recall having read real reviews/trip reports of exclusive-use private islands like Necker.
