First, you should ask the TA at YVR to put you on the standby list for the 13:35 DFW-ORD flight before you leave YVR.

Then, as soon as you get to DFW, go directly to the connecting gate, hand over your priority verification, and see if it has cleared. If it hasn't, just hang out in the gate area.

Remember, nowadays the AC AAngels don't have as much power as they used to with regard to standby lists. The GAs are all-powerful.
