Did you move out before November 23, 1982? 'Cos that was the day Iwa did $234 million in damage on Kauai. (When Iniki hit, everyone started thinking it was going to be an every-10-years thing!)

Also, you were maybe too little to remember Nina in 1957 and Dot in 1959?

Incidentally, I've read that the last time the eye of a hurricane made landfall on the Big Island (where I am currently seeing calm winds and light rain from Flossie) was... 1871!
