Traveling on Thanksgiving Day via PHL

I know this might be too early to think about it but...I recently booked my flight to PWM from DCA for Thanksgiving. To save money, I chose a flight that has a layover in Philly. Fortunately that's only the case for one way of the trip, the way back is a non-stop flight.

Now I'm no frequent flier of US Air and I am a PHL virgin. I've been reading the forums and it appears to me that PHL is nothing but trouble...esp on Thanksgiving day. Fortunately or unfortunately my flight leaves at 7:30am from DCA, so it's a rather early flight, so even if my flight from PHL to PWM gets delayed (this one departs at 9:45am), my bf and I would get in in time for the Thanksgiving dinner. Or would we? Should I be scared and expect for the worst? What is your opinion?
