Always sounds good in theory Mr.Government but think about the business implications. It isn't cheap landing a fully loaded international aircraft and having it take off again.
And do tell what the business implications of keeping a bunch of planes with pax and cargo grounded for 4-8 hours are and creating a humongous jam? Putting aside the government, it doesn't seem to be good business sense for the air carrier or the general economy either. Furthermore, the air carriers themselves have to pay overtime to their flight crews as well as their ground crews. Some may time out, etc. So, yeah, I have thought of the business implications. Not sure you have though.
