I always thought that the Aeroplan marketing people would set these sorts of promos in conjunction with the partner. I.e. If they offer 1000 bonus miles on eligible Hertz car rentals, both Aeroplan and Hertz would have reached and agreement and decided on how to run the promo. Seeing as I have nothing to do with points.com, I though Aeroplan would be the correct escalation point.
I will get onto points.com and see what they say. I suspect that they will say "We cannot influence what Aeroplan write on their website, we aren't Aeroplan".
