Disturbing UAL Experience
Yesterday when I changed planes in Chicago, I accidentally left my laptop in the seat pocket in front of my seat (6-D). I discovered this when I was in the RCC trying to get seat assignment for the next leg.
I then ran back to my original plane and told the gate agent that my laptop was on the plane and that I needed it right away because I was in a great hurry to make my next connection. He totally ignored me and walked away, but a passenger came up and advised that she had seen a flight attendant walk up to the desk and hand the two agents who where there (a girl named Allison and a young black man) a lavendar laptop.
I then went back to the desk and told them that I believed that my laptop had been handed to Allison and a young black man by a flight attendant. The gate agent then called the break room and spoke with both Allison and Moses and was advised that neither of them had seen any laptop.
I then went back to the eye-witness passenger and asked her to come up to the gate with me. She came up to the gate gave her name and advised that she had seen a flight attendant come up to Allison and a young black man, hand them a lavendar laptop and advise them that it had been found in seat 6-D.
The gate agent, with a supervisor observing, then called back to the break room and advised Allison and Moses that there was indeed an eye witness who had seen the flight attendant hand them the laptop. Confronted with this information, they advised that the laptop was in the breakroom and the supervisor then ran and retrieved it for me. When it was returned, the the battery was flipped into the stand position and there were greasy fingerprints on the open and on buttons. It was fairly obvious that someone had been attempting to turn it on.
I had to run to make my connection, but in retrospect was terribly disturbed that it took an eye witness who was willing to testify to get my laptop back. The PremEx desk has asked me to write to Denise Harvill and report the incident. Any other suggestions?
