They dont. Even better (a lot better) than the Wisk tablets were the Tide tablets. They had an effervescent in the tablet that would break it up within about a minute. I found with the Wisk that I had to break them up in the bag before pouring in or I would risk chunks of detergent on my things. Sigh...all good things come to an end, I suppose
