Somethings are worth pursuing and other things are not. This hotels is not in the best part of town and not worth fighting to obtain it for a $1. I had reservations previously and when I spoke with them a few times on the phone or through email when they contacted me, the staff went out of their their to be rude.
Stop dealing with the hotel directly and make an attempt to contact corporate and just tell them how displeased you are with the whole handling of this reservation process. If they wish to provide a goodwill gesture, great. If not, move one as there are a plethora of hotel chains out there all wanting to earn your business.
Now about the flaming of trying to portray FlyerTalkers as scavengers or vultures is wrong though. It takes money to fly there and then you have to pay for other things like food, getting around and possibly shopping. Or we could just stay home and not travel except for business like most people do. How does that help a city rebuild?
