Well, we arrived at the Tokyo Conrad on Thursday, and I have to say I have been absolutely blown over. The service for this diamond has been simply impeccable:
Check-in: the manager on duty came over to apologise for not giving us an executive room due to the hotel being over full (our award was allowed as a diamond force), and promised that we will be upgraded to a Suite on Monday. We are on the 34th floor, but we have been given lounge access.
Lounge: the check-in folk had clearly let the lounge staff know that they had given us lounge access. We were greeted by name as expected guests in the lounge for the afternoon service, and really made to feel at home.
Spa: we asked in the lounge for directions to the swimming pool, then went down and it was clear the lounge folk had called ahead - we were again greeted by name, taken in and shown around the facilities, and generally made extremely welcome
Food: breakfast in the lounge is absolutely wonderful. The chef will make you fresh eggs (I had an omelette yesterday), there are sausages and bacon and ham, but also lots of cold food including salmon, various cold meats and cheeses, lots of fruits (with fresh whipped cream and nuts), various sweets, cereals, etc - a huge spread. At 5pm they also have evening food in the lounge, which has also been good. Different food every day, and lots of it, served very attractively. In fact, so far we haven't actually eaten anything apart from what we eat in the Lounge! And that's not because we don't want to - I actually want to try some local food - but because we're so full we've simply not needed to.
We have been to Le Tempo twice now, good massage :-) We've also spent time getting used to the transport system (wow), visited a few gardens (today was Ueno gardens, and the museum), been to Akihabara to get some camera stuff, seen a couple of temples, and generally played tourist.
I think I really like Tokyo! And a big part of that is the Conrad, especially the service that the staff provide.
