i've just booked some F (in 2 class config) flights. 1 from LAX to EWR which according to calculator on BA.com is going to earn me 180 points.

returning, I am going via ORD (was best fare and time that way) but only getting 2 x 60 even though total distance is same (if not slightly more).......
Logic has little to do with it, be thankful for the times it works in your favour. I do regular AMS-LHR-LOS flights in J for which I get 160 TPs each direction. LHR-LOS earns 120 TPs of course. The AMS-LHR-LOS ticket is significantly cheaper than a LHR-LOS flight. Pay less, travel about same distance, get more points. On the other side of the world, I always thought it rather miserly of BA that LHR-SYD earns a mere 220 TPs considering I rack up 160 on AMS-LOS. I think it a bit miserly they dont give extra credit for ultra-long sectors, with effectively only 100 TPs on SIN-SYD. Am not complaining though, the system works for me ok.
