HNL-LAX from the PiP, I was making nice with a FA (who was doting on my 'cause it was my b-day) and as I was getting off she offered me a liter of water, saying that I would need it on my connnecting red-eye because, in her words, "First class domestic, you'll be lucky to get much water when you want it."

So perhaps this policy is an effort to extend the int'l first experience to your connecting flight??????
