I am currently in the USA but left DUB aprox 3 weeks ago, when I left the situation was as explained in my post.
Prior to that (about a year ago) transit passengers had a fast track route to get to the security screening within the airside area, but that is not in operation any more
On my return in a few days time, I will post the current situation
I recall it as Flame says, but just thought that earthman had more current information.
That said, it is highly preferable to be able to connect air side just past immigration
