I have not flown this route, but this route is no different from other United's transpacific route... It is only longer.
The best seat in the house is the exit row in the upper deck, but there is no window on that "window" seat... just a warning..
The service will be the typical United's dinner service with appetizer, salad, three entree choices, cheese (two types) OR dessert, Godiva Chocolate. A snack cart will be set up in the exit area or the galley area, which has chips, grapes, cheese... all those junk food. Then a hot breakfast with a choice of hot breakfast (omelette with a fruit bowl and pastry) or fruit plate with yogurt and croissant prior to arrival.
Write us a detail trip report! I want to see how the load is, and do they offer more meals or better food on that segment, like ORD to HKG?
Combatting jet lag... eat the dinner, watch one or two movies... then sleep till landing. Don't sleep for the first half of the flight (six to seven hours)... so you can adjust to the time of Melbourne. Eat the dinner... and pretend it is time for that too. Then sleep till breakfast time (6am in MEL time)!
Have a good flight!
