I haven't read all the posts, but at ORD the UA staff threaten to give me a name tag as I am often expediting the line.

I try and tell people 'there is a machine empty - you can step up and use it' but after 2-3 times I just give up and use it myself, sometimes to boos of the people who think that I have pushed ahead (and I am talking about *G or 1k lines here!)

At YVR the machines are IN THE LINES for both status and nonstatus pax and there is often an expediter telling people to use the machines. The check in agents actually send people back to the machine if they refuse (machines read passports there)

I really don't understand how people who can use a bank machine can't figure out an express check in machine, and would rather stand in line for 60 minutes.

At CDG recently it was the same for LH flights to the US - sheeple standing in line for 90 minutes while LH staff yelled at them to use the machines.
