Ultimately for the transcons I was expecting it to be comparable to United Premium Service Business, but it seems like it is far behind. I have doubts in regards to VX's success already... after the hype is gone I don't think they'll have much success.

Ultimately if the F price stays as low as it is they definitely may have a market, but I assume those are just introductory fares.
I am not sure they are trying to compete with PS. There are only 8 F seats. I think they are trying to go after Jet Blue's customer base, and hoping to pick up a few people who will pay for first (either up front or upgrade at the airport).

I compare it to AA, where it would cost me $400 for coach plus $300 for 12 "stickers" if I get lucky in both directions. Currently, for $800, I can confirm in F on VX. Service seems nice, attitude is good and the seats are comfy. If I am not flying enough to make AA platinum, I have almost no chance at an upgrade SFO-JFK, so I might as well pay $800 and take VX.
