However the difference between BD now and Dan-Air, Air Europe, British Caledonian etc of 10-20 years ago is each were either mainly short or long-haul, not really both therefore could not offer seamless onward connections.
EWR and JFK manage to do it and I would think the main reason is that there is a dominant long / short haul airline at both these hubs. EWR has CO and JFK has DL (and AA to some extent).
