In late June, after being delayed for two hours in MAD (due to late arrival of aircraft from LHR) for a two-hour flight to LHR, I waited another 2.5 hours to get my luggage. By the time I exited Customs, it was past midnight and the only option to get to my hotel was a 77 pound cab ride. Thank God I was on business expense but those traveling on their dime had to fork this much money to get home or to their hotel. Faced with constant delays, I cannot imagine what regular travelers to/from LHR have to endure to make a living!
