It will probably be harder from DFW (since that's one of your convenient hubs), but probably not impossible.
I might suggest DFW-STL-ORD-xxxx (where xxx is somewhere cheap and not too far away) and back the same way. That would get you 6. If you have to have 8, maybe DFW-STL-ORD-MIA-xxxx and back?
