I usually ask someone this, if "he's not willing to spend Westin/Sheraton price" (just because it is a Sheraton doesn't mean it is expensive, well I guess it depends on the definition one has of expensive and cheap), then what is he willing to pay? the ballpark figure?

I find everyone defines "cheap" very differently, I don't think things are that expensive in Japan, in fact I find it cheaper than things back compared to where I live, but again everyone's definition is different. How many nights? Any particular leaning on type of accomodation? Mind Ryokans, Youth Hostels? small roomed business hotels?
