We were tired and all we wanted to do was sit down on the lanai, enjoy a nice drink and chat with each other. When we opened the curtain there was a buffet table set up about 5 or 6 feet away from the edge of the lanai. They even had a high intensity light stand right on our lanai to illuminate this corporate event. This was something that Sheraton had sold to some company. We complained to the manager about how they could locate such an event right in front of their most expensive rooms. The manager said he understood and that this was an ongoing problem they've been batting back and forth with their sales organization. Not only that, but there was another event scheduled starting mid-afternoon the following Friday.

After talking calmly with the manager, he offered to send us to their bar where we could eat and drink whatever we wanted, he comped both rooms for the two nights where there would be events (4 room-nights altogether) and gave us dinner with all the trimmings the second day where there was an event. I would have preferred not to get any of this and instead not had the problem at all, but the hotel did step up to the plate and did the best they could under the circumstances. I was happy with the end result in spite of having had a couple of days of activities in front o the room.
Wow. That sounds like an incredibly generous compensation for losing your view for a couple of days-especially since your booked rooms weren't as nice, anyway and you had already been upgraded. Sounds like a very sweet deal.

I guess it makes me want to choose that hotel if I ever make it to Hawaii.
