Its odd I have a great admiration and respect for some of those at Hyatt in Omaha and some of the folks at the hotel level. However this is about a business relationship at the end of the day.
One that should work with more positive then negatives.
To some degree I think some of the folks in Omaha care and want to take pride in their company and guest satisfaction.
Hyatt in it’s hey day was an industry role model. The bigger problem as I see it is the heavy handed changes and attitude of some at Hyatt corporate over the more recent past. They appear to rarely care about customers except through their messages in advertising content. Actions speak louder then words however.Once I saw them take my own business and that of others for granted I made the switch. They have also lost the ability to apologize sincerely for failures to affected customers.
Hyatt corporate has continued to allow the changes that partially damaged the program, Hyatt Consumer Affairs and the ability at times to book revenue rooms at fair market pricing.
Also the lack of ability to earn at a full variety of rate plans is also puzzling.
It amazes me how Hyatt would find it acceptable to sell a room on Priceline then rather let an Entertainment rate or Travel Zoo rate earn in the program with an engaged program customer or one that has the potential to be
I find it fascinating as they operate like there are no other program choices. Is there really a cost saving as program customers more savvy and educated then ever before choose other brands and programs?
And despite their short sighted blindness anyone who chooses to stay and pay through Hyatt’s booking channels is demonstrating loyal purchase behavior and the propensity to choose Hyatt Hotels in the future.
However just as it remained yesterday when I last looked loyalty is and will remain a two way street.....
The fact that the folks who invented the "Hyatt Touch" lost their own touch.
I do hold hope for the future as I have seen Hyatt stumble in years past and return to rise to the top of their game. This time I am not so sure however.
Hyatt Place sure looks very promising all other concerns aside.
Thats the short story
