Have to say I agree on Aberdeen West, stayed there in June and was blown away. Its quite pricey but I did manage to get a plat upgrade when I had explained to the (new) receptionist what platinum meant. The room was however more than worth it and the the food was pretty good too.

My choice for my next trip to aberdeen.
