My company gets a 10% discount, which is on the low end. According to the ladies at my local CTO, companies like IBM get discounts over 25%. Typically this is for North American travel only, as is ours.

My company doesn't care if I use the discount for personal travel as we have to hit a minimum $$ amount to continue to get the discount (and of course, so long as I pay for it myself).

On a recent LHR-SFO leg I sat in BC next to an Irish based executive from Hewlett Packard. He said that UA actively courts their business for trips that originate in Europe, offering them substantial discounts in addition to fairly frequent upgrades. Of course at that point he had flown almost 200,000 actual miles for the year, and this was in mid August. He was on his way to the Bay Area for a one day meeting, and then was heading back to Ireland.

For what it's worth he and his colleagues had dumped BA in favor of UA. The reason? Not money nor inflight service .... on their last 4 trips BA had lost their bags 3 times. They were just fed up.
