Same here: For a trip to LIM in three weeks time, I've been trying to change my award seats from AA to CO that have been available for many days, on the "saver" mileage level, on both co.com and nwa.com, without logging in. I've been calling AS every day with the particular CO flight numbers, yet to no avail (though none of the agents laughed when I suggested CO )

I need your advice: is it of any use to keep calling to try to redeem AS miles to get the CO award, as seats may open up in the final weeks, even for AS members?

Or is this still close to impossible as several FTers witnessed firsthand in the past? If so, cancel my AA award, pay the $50 cancellation fee on top of the $10 agent fee already paid, and redeem my NW miles instead?

Though the lack of CO seats is not AS' fault, my experience shows the need for the possibility of partner award seat booking to overseas destinations on AS' site: in my particular case, using nwa.com means that I can see myself that the seats are available, so I don't need to call (multiple times), nor do I need to wait for an agent (one time over 30 minutes ), and best of all, this can be done within 15 minutes, for 5,000 miles less and no booking fees.
