I assume that unit revenue (yield and rasm) would not be sufficient to make a 767 from NYC to Hawaii profitable enough. Better to fly from the hubs at DFW and ORD as well as from West coast points like SFO and LAX.
AA's feed at JFK is generally from points west of NYC and is headed for the Caribbean, Europe and Central/S America. Not too many people would fly East toward NYC to fly to Hawaii.
I'm in CA and would rather fly to the Caribe then Hawaii.
