Hi:

BA (actually GB airways) just cancelled my October flight between Madrid and Gibraltar. Apparently the route has been dropped. The BA flight departed MAD at 21:10. BA rebooked my wife and me on the 11:50 Iberia flight.

The problem is that we have a same-day arrival in MAD at 15:00 on an Iberia flight (from LIS), so we cannot make the 11:50 connection that BA rebooked us on. The LIS-MAD flight is on a separate ticket booked directly with Iberia. Also, I need to be in GIB on the originally scheduled night, so spending a night in MAD is not an option.

There is an earlier IB flight out of LIS that would allow us to make the connection. However, Iberia says our LIS-MAD tickets cannot be changed or refunded - use 'em or lose 'em. BA will not rebook me on an earlier flight from LIS because the original LIS-MAD ticket was booked through Iberia. BA says " tough luck." I am out $400 because BA cancelled the MAD-GIB flight.

Do I have any options? Does BA have any responsibility to clean up this mess?
