When my card was reissued with a chip, the card number changed Amex-style. The card wasn't good enough for the check-in person at LHR T4 First, who referred it by phone to somebody anonymous (to me at least) who OK'd my card after some minutes.
This procedure doesn't apply when the cardholder isn't travelling, i.e. when I buy a ticket for my wife. God knows how they do the anti-fraud thing then. And if it's OK for my wife, it should be OK for me.

The same happen with my amex when it was reissued with c & p,I was sent to the Zone R ticket desk, after 10 minutes of tapping away on her keyboard I was then allowed to check-in.It really is a load of cobblers this was a 241 F booking that had been paid for 6 months in advance. There couldn't be any fraud, BA had had their money and Amex had been paid.In contrast I have traveled on paid BA F,J,W tickets,MFU tickets and 50% of the time not been asked to show the booking cc at check-in.
