I have just come back from (a long and slightly boozy!) lunch there entertaining a veggie client. I can confirm that The Gate works very well for a Friday afternoon, with an unpretentious balance of very respectable, well-presented and well thought-out food (satisying enough for a steak eater like myself) and unfussy, chilled out service. And on a nice summer's day like today (I know! In London! Miracle!), it was lovely to sit outside in the courtyard and soak up the sunshine - you wouldn't think you were slap bang behind the Hammersmith flyover...

But you're right, veggie + London + upscale = quite hard work... I'll need to take this bloke out again, so any more suggestions are welcome!
