I would expect getting the refund would be simple enough. It is applied to one particular aircraft type and if the plane is not flown on the flight you booked and paid for it on, then a mention of this at check-in should get a referral to the ticket office, or a phone number to apply for a refund. Hasn't SQ also introduced a surcharge on their new 777s too?
