I was actually more thinking of a schedule change, maybe a couple of weeks before the departure date, i.e. AC869 shows 77W at time of ticketing but is changed later to 333 and you did not check before departure if the 77W is still scheduled and get a big surprise at the gate. I can hardly imagine that AC would call you and offer a refund after they changed the equipment in the schedule.
