Tea is also popular in Odessa and the rest of the Ukraine.. however the Russian custom is eiither to add jam/conserve to tea to sweeten it or to use sugar in the normal way.

Russia and the Former States is a huge market for Indian tea but Russia also grows tea, notably in the Kradnodar region and in parts near the Black Sea. I remember seeing tea bushes near Sochi for example.
