Hawaii with wife and 3 kids: Maui or the Big Island
We are taking some of our kids (ages 3, 6, and 8) to Hawaii for two weeks in December and we need some advice on which island to go to.
We have been to Kauai, it seems too slow. We took the kids to Oahu already and had a great time. My wife and I will be in Lanai in November so we want something different.
It has been almost 15 years since I have been to Maui and the Big Island and at that time I wasn't looking at any kid-oriented activities.
We were thinking of either Maui, or the Big Island, or splitting our time between the two. The factors we are considering are: will one island have better weather? Which island has more kids' activities and attractions. And which island will have more easily accessible, kid-friendly beaches (no huge waves and not to much rocks, hopefully some nice peaceful sandy beaches).
I don't know if the volcano on the Big Island is erupting lately but if it is my boy would love to see it.
Any advice on this would be appreciated.
