About ten years ago I flew first class from ORD to New Orleans. There was only one other passenger in first class, an aging?, fiftyish "rock star," who was to perform the next day in New Orleans. He picked up the phone ($2.50/minute?) as soon as we took off and had an emotional conversation with one of his managers (who was in LA)
for the entire trip, turning off the phone at or about the time the plane landed.
I wasn't
that offended at the time, but I've become more intolerant as the years have gone by. Let's hope that cell phone usage remains limited to saying hello just before takeoff and after landing!
