I've eaten at Tomoe countless times (lived a couple doors down for it for 18 months) - and like the post says, if you don't mind waiting in line (no reservations accepted) and you don't really care about the "atmosphere" you'd love this place. For the price, it gets my vote for the best place for sushi in the city.

Side note: last time i was there (2005 i think) i stood in line behind Leo & Gisele...so, it's a good place for star sighting if you're into that.
