Ren Suites ORD

Just spent three nights there.

The Good: nicely furnished rooms of decent size. Airport shuttle goes every 20 minutes during most of the day. Decent concierge lounge. The morning spread was probably slightly better than average, featuring two hot dishes each day (one day sausages and french toast, the next day bacon and scrambled eggs, the next day sausages and silver dollar pancakes). The afternoon spread was average or just below. The window blind chain system: love it or hate it. The Blue Line "L" train service.

The Bad: As several earlier posters mentioned, the bed mattresses are hard, very hard. Very little to do in the immediate area. The only walking distance restaurant is a very smoky Bennigans. Toiletries not replenished each day without specific request. My turn-down service "treat" one evening was a mini-bottle of water. Televisions are old fashioned bulky black crt's (surprising in a new contemporarily furnished upscale property). Getting a telephone response from the front desk frequently took numerous rings. The window blind chain system: love it or hate it. The Blue Line "L" train service. Upgrade request to more spacious corner suite denied. Mediocre concierge lounge wine at $8.50 a glass. Bed not properly made two out of three days. (One day, the bottom sheet was not tucked-in on the side. Another day, the bed was short-sheeted at the bottom, leaving about an inch of mattress exposed.)
