Do you realize we were just discussing the shift from waiter to server, above? Apparently you think it's an upgrade; I think that when you consider the meaning of the words, server is more menial and submissive.

As I said above, I wholeheartedly support the idea that all people, regardless of their jobs, are entitled to dignity and respect. Where you and I seem to disagree is how to get there.

In the case of steward(ess), do you think the shift to flight attendant achieved its purpose? I don't. I'm not about to anger someone by calling them the old name, but I still think it was a silly name change.
