You can spend a couple of hours at the Auckland Museum; then, walk to Parnell Road (ask someone to point you in the right direction).

Parnell Road runs several blocks and has many nice shops and places to eat/drink. I started at the top of the hill and walked down.

The loop bus (NZ$1.60) will take you back downtown in about 10 minutes.
