Last I heard, the Q flight were based down at one of the southern bases anyway, so we already have fighers at alert on a nearby airbase - constantly, and not just because he is flying. Whether we do anything additionally, I don't know. In a country the size of the UK, I'm not sure that he needs to have them 'on alert at the nearest airbase' - that's much more of a US issue!
