If you check out of the hotel, go to the airport and they want to charge you for the change, what are your options? Rent another car for a day, add another day at a hotel and come back tomorrow?

Me, I'd pay the change fee. IF they ask you to is another discretionary issue .. maybe yes, maybe no.
