The only way you are going to find out is by going to the airport and finding out... after you talk nice. It can happen, but is TOTALLY dependent on the agent. ANY agent can involuntarily re-route you at no cost. But they are accountable for their actions, and they are reviewed. This is, IME, the way things like this get done.
