BA may not fly direct to BNE, but when my mum came to visit us there she definitely arrived on BA metal, via SYD. I remember being a little surprised, myself, and thinking how typical of her not to fly on one of those untrustworthy foreign airlines. Mind you, this was around 10 years ago!
BA did used to fly via SYD to BNE and MEL (they alternated on certain days of the week). Then both became one stops (via Asia). Then both disappeared altogether!
