Matt, the ONLY flight I have ever been on that had them turned on was a TransPac 747-400 (and on that flight I didn't have my laptop with me). I've been on dozens of domestic planes that have had the jacks but they have not been activated! Even the pilots say there is no breaker installed for them. Purely decorative. I've written United but have never received a reply. I've stopped bringing my expensive EmPower adapter along with me. Sure glad I invested in one .
