Can't speak for the JFK-EZE route. I only did it back in 2004; on the way down south the upgrade dindn't clear - one of about four that dindn't since 2001 when I got EXP -, but I remember having a complete row blocked in Y. On the way back I was upgraded.
However, I have flown about 10-12 times EZE-MIA over the last 16 months or so, and a-l-w-a-y-s cleared.
