I have a USB enclosure for 2.5" hdd's. I'd recommend getting one ($20-$30?) and placing your thinkpad drive into it. You will need to remove any HDD password using the thinkpad BIOS before placing your HDD in the enclusure. You can then plug it into some other computer and make the change w/ the Disk Management utility in XP's computer management.
