Multi-country SPG issues?

OK, I just applied for SPG and the SPG amex card with my US address. It was primarily to get the bonus points, obviously.

My partner is already SPG Preferred but has registered previously using his address here in the UK.

Question is, if he applies for the SPG Amex in the US and gives his pre-existing SPG number, will that work ok or will the systems freak out that it's not a US-based SPG account?

The reason I'm asking is (and those familiar with the BAEC forum know this well) that, in the case of another programme with which I'm familiar, your programme address is vital to the association with the credit card. So when we moved our British Airways Executive Club address to the UK, our US-based BA visa card stopped accruing BA miles. Likewise, if we were to move the address back to the US, our UK-based BA Amex would break.

Anyway, this unhappiness with multinational types like us may be a peculiar BA thing. Anyone have experience on this with SPG?
