Waiting to boards a 777 in ORD we saw both cleaning crew and captain open the cockpit side windows and wipe the front windows clean from the outside.

So after I boarded I stopped by the flight deck and asked the captain if he made sure the windows were closed now - I said I didn't want the crew to get cold.

He now started telling me and FO about that happening to him (window blowing out) at some high speed in his younger days. "I hope you had an oxygen mask" I said. "Well, that's the thing - the mask got blown off my face..." He told us.

So at the end of the story I asked: "Hey was this on United Express?". <Rimshot>
