I know that several airlines state you have to be able to speak and understand English (well, I wasn't sure, but just looked )
I'd suggest a third skill: being able to understand the FA when he/she say's "don't open that door if you see fire outside the window" or "don't open that door - there's a small gremlin on the wing."
